How Volunteering Works

HRD protection initiatives range from large regional protection organizations with significant budgets to nascent grassroots coalitions of individual human rights defenders. Their needs are diverse, but common requests include expertise in the following:

  • Counseling and psychosocial support

  • Advocacy and communication skills

  • Networks with prominent cultural and business leaders or organizations

Relevant Skills & Experience

  1. Engage directly in the development of the Global Defenders Collective.

    Aside from volunteering directly with local protection partners, we are looking for like-minded to people to help us sustain and grow the Global Defenders Collective. We could use your help growing our network, supporting and vetting volunteers, fundraising, and more. If you’re interested, please indicate interest on the roster form!

  2. Refer local organizations and spread the word.

    We are connected with many local HRD protection initiatives around the world, but we are constantly trying to grow our the network of volunteers and participating organizations. If you know of an organization that could benefit from joining, please direct them here.
